Mandarin Restaurant - Scarborough: A Family-Friendly Dining Experience Awaits

We recently re-dined at Mandarin Scarborough and had such a wonderful experience. The evening manager Jacky welcomed us warmly. Heidi our host seated us kindly and Elaine our waitress attended to our group graciously. The dinner buffet had everything from hot and cold salads, sushi, roast beef, sliders, bruschetta, sautéed spinach, roasted field vegetables, various stir fry’s, soup and endless desert options and ice cream flavours. The food was tasty, fresh and pleasing. The atmosphere of the dining room was nice with planters surrounding us. We had the opportunity to sit comfortably and enjoy a meal with loved ones. Thank you Mandarin for welcoming us back and providing a great dining experience.

Food wasn't that great in terms of test. Ok ish... service was good. But we were there at 8 o clock and they close around 9. So they were bit pushing us to finish our food as fast as possible. But in terms of money amount of variety was so less. Especially steak. It was so horrible that we can't have a bite. Foods are too sweet so thay you can't have more. Overall not a great experience

I also noticed a lot of regulars, which says a lot about the consistency and comfort this location offers. Most of the food was fresh and hot. One exception: I grabbed a piece of prime rib that was from the end of the tray and had been sitting a while — not bad, just noticeably less juicy. That said, a fresh batch came out moments later, and the newly carved slice was perfect: tender, flavorful, and steaming hot. It reminded me of one of my buffet rules — wait for the new batch, especially for items that need to be carved or don’t hold heat well under lamps. Desserts? Plentiful. From cakes and soft-serve ice cream to traditional Chinese sweets and even a chocolate fountain — they cover all the bases. There’s even a touch of hospitality on the way out: cotton candy and mints by the door — a small but sweet final touch. Final thoughts: Come hungry — and maybe pace yourself. I ate way too much (classic buffet mistake), but it was worth it. Mandarin in Scarborough offers a reliable, well-maintained buffet experience with friendly staff, a wide range of choices, and a welcoming atmosphere. Perfect for families, groups, or when you just want to treat yourself to everything at once.

Wendy was so kind and courteous looking after our need. We felt welcomed right front he start. She was attentive to making our experience quite pleasant. I would love for her to be our server every time.

Jo jo was a wonderful server. The service was great and very friendly, especially since we had a large group of 20 people, they were very accommodating. Also, the manager was very friendly and understanding of our situation. I will definitely come here again and my Grandfather really enjoyed his 100th birthday.
